I found that the north of Italy was more business like. Meaning there were better jobs avail, education was better, more artistic if you will. The south, they are very laid back and will be more forward with the women. I experienced a lot of men whistling and howling Ciao Bella at me all the time in the south, and not so much in the north. I also found that the south, like Naples wasn't as clean as northern italy. But I know that Naples has issues with the Garbage workers and such. Also, in naples, in the south, they shut down a lot of places during the day for their nap time and don't reopen until around 6 or 7pm, esp restaurants, lots of places were closed around 3pm and wouldnt serve food till later. naples, traffic is crazy, but so is Rome, lol! I found the south actually a lot cheaper than the north too, so for me that was cool as a student and backpacker it was perfect. 6 bucks for the best pizza i've ever had and a beer! can't beat that! North was expensive when it came to cuisine. I also noticed that those in naples spoke their own dialect as well. |

theres no difference. both have some rude ppl and some people who will treat you like their own familia. Ive experienced both summer and winter in both areas of italy. You cant generalize how ALL ppl in one area will be. Like anywhere else you go, you will find a mixed bag of nuts. |

Northern Italians claim that they're hard workers and more "european".. in the north of Italy there are the best schools and universities and the most important companies. The truth is that in southern Italy there are still loads of problems with mafia and this is the reason why the north of Italy is way more productive and economically active than the south! People in the south on the other hand are very friendly and very attached to their family and to the people they love. |

Babi..... you forgot to say that you are more educated you are All gentlemen you are more rich you have the economy of the country the companies etc you look more European you are more development
while in the north are poor Uneducated we have many problems our streets full of Garbage we have more disease prevalent we move to the southern countries for a better life and better job we are Mostly Latin and mixed with North Africans so we look like them we have bribes scandals we are thieves and have more crime emmm what else ?? ...

the Major Difference is the dialects and it's not between the north or the south only but every region have many which some other regions find it hard to Understand .. other thing the Climate and other things
whatever every city and region has it's special thing which make it Good and special and it has the bad side also .. |

The language is very noticable between the two ......also people in the north earn more money than the south...otherwise no differences they are very hospitable |

I used to live in Calabria 5 years ago. I lived there for 10 years. IM 15 now. The south is very...well...different. Lots of farms, beaches, etc. Very few "big cities". Mafia influences a lot of the life there. The people..well depends, you know? most of them are rude (yes i lived there and yes they were rude..sad to say) and sexist. Also, say...if you had a husband and you guys divorced, you were known as an outsider and they did not give you a chance to get back into life. The north, i believe, is different, they are more industrialized then us, the people should be more...grown up in the fact that they aren't all rude, and there's slightly more opportunities then there are in the south |

Historically, northern Italy has identified more with the industrial regions of Europe (ie Western Europe) more than Southern Italy. Also, people from northern Italy are lighter skinned, or "whiter," than those of Southern Italy. There languages are also different. |

unlike what says Babi, also in the north people are very friendly. For the tourism, I don't find difference between the north and the south. If we speak to live instead us... they are a lot of of it! |

in the south italy people is very friendly.. they can have fun.. every moment of the day is the right moment to sing or have joke with a friend.. in the north.. people is very serious.. (work.. work.. work) |
