What are the most beautiful towns in Italy?

I'm interested in smaller towns--rather than the cities--but large enough to have some basic services, such as groceries, bakery, etc. Thanks.

I know of one, but it was REALLY pretty! :)

I lived in a town in Italy, on the Venice mainland, for a year which was very nice. The town was called San Trovaso, but very close to a bit larger of a town, Preganziol. :) It was about 20 minutes from Venice and about 10 from Treviso (one of the main, mainland towns off Venice). San Trovaso had a bakery, a church, a school, a pizzaria.....and Treviso was amazing-and of course Venice!

Have fun where ever you go!

The Cinque Terre, in the northern coast is so special. It is five small towns right on the water, connected via goat plaths. Wonderful seafood that is so fresh. I reall delight!

I agree on not liking major cities, with the exception of Rome, because there are so many area in Rome where the buildings and streets are preserved close to what they were two thousand years ago that they are more like small, beautiful towns and can move you right out of the feeling of the big city.

One of my favorites is just a short distance south of Venice (I did not like Venice) is a town called Ferrara. It's a small town, but with all the stores and services. Pretty much flat and the bicycles outnumber the cars about 10 to 1. There is also a castle in the middle of town surrounded by a moat. And the whole town is surrounded by a wall, with a tree-lined pathway following the inside.

Like I said, one of my favorite places. And the people are so friendly.

Livigno, Como, Belaggio, Fano, Pesaro, Brindisi ... depends of what type of place are you interested in, on the sea, near moutains, or antique ... Then almost every where in Italy is beautiful ...and of course, full of basic servises. Italians like to shop around where they live, they don't have, and don't rush to "mall" like in the US
