hey u're question is just what i needed...
1. Rome for the monuments and food...
2. Venice for the ppl who live there and them dialect :):)..and for views
3. Milan..cool nightlife
4. Florence for the views especially near Ponte Vecchio
5. Sardinia for the sea..and ppl..and nightlife..and beaches..(only during the summer)
6. Naples for views and food
7. Lake of Como and the Alpi (the mountains over there)..amazing views..a really relaxing place
8. Capri...beautiful..deeply natural and relaxing
9. Sicily..lots of history and food
10. Verona and Lake of Garda..the big "Arena"..and the balcony of Romeo and Juliet..the lake is amazing if u like mountains views.

2. Florence....has lots to see, lots of museums, renaissance stuff....
3. Siena is lovely
4. Rome....history galore....Colloseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, etc
5. Pompeii.....worth a look...larger than I thought!
6. Leaning tower is quite interesting....but really the only thing in Pisa to see
7. I loved Lucca which is near Florence/Pisa. Its a mini Florence without the people!
8. Montepulciano....lovely hillside village in the Siena region. Great to get away...has wine, great views of the surrounding area
9. Bologna.....nice city
10. verona...another really nice city with a lovely setting and good things to see.

1- Vatican (you could make a separate top 10 list for this place alone)
2- Colosseum in Rome (duh?)
3- Venice canals
4- St Marks square in Venice
5- Leaning tower of Pisa
6- Florence (all the artwork throughout the city)
7- Pantheon in Rome
8- San Remo during party season
9-10 Look in a tour guide, there are many places I don't even remember. Italy is pretty stacked for sight-seeing.
