This historic bridge connects the Doge's Palace with its prisons and was named for the condemned prisoners who crossed it to meet their executioners.

I agree with the above person. I went last month for 5 nights. It was great! If you want to be sure to see everything, try to go on a tour www.viator.com. They are pretty reasonable. Also don't eat on the main strip it cost way to much, find a place on a back alley, it's way better anyways! Feed the birds!! It was great, avoid the people trying to sell fake bags. Have fun it's such a great place to see, I wish I could live there. It is expensive, I spent almost 3,000 in the short time I was there, |

Instead of giving you a list of popular and touristic areas of Venice I suggest you to "get lost" in the city. It could be scary to think about because of the labyrinthic nature of the city but I can assure you that you will be able to discover unknown and wonderful places. I suggested this to many friends who were coming to Venice for the first time and they thanked me because they have seen unique corners of the city. Don't worry, if you want to go to San Marco there are plenty of signs around the city to guide you. |

visit the Murano glass factory, Burano, Doge's palace, Ponte Rialto, take a ghondolla ride (about 75 euro per couple), the McDonald's (all american tourists go there) |

I have been to Venice multiple times and the best part of the city is just walking around and enjoying the ambiance of it all. As for sites the Accademia Museum is excellent, The Doge's Palace and the Frari are without exception must sees. |

You have to go to Piazza San Marco, Look at teh Basilica and go inside. Go to La Salute, maybe you'll be lucky and the church will be open. There are 3 bridges, Rialto is te most famous but has the worst food around it. It's really hard not to get lost once you get off teh vapporetto, unless you are in a popular area. You should also go to San Leo, an island, Il Cemitero, another island (cemetary) and then you must go to Lido to see the beach. Have fun. Try not to get ripped off by the gondoleers. |

Don't forget to go on the gandala ride, its part of the Venice experience. Also, when I was there I went and saw a demonstration on how they make glass into vases, jewellery, etc by glass blowing, very interesty, plus I end up buying vase as a souvenier. |
