You're going to need a jacket or a really good sweater. The breeze in Venice off the lagoon can be very chilly. Verona isn't too far from the mountains, so it can get cool there too. I was there in early May 2004 and couldn't stand on the platform on the train station without a jacket. Mostly, it's the wind in both places.

I would check weather.com for average temperatures so you know what to expect. Pack clothes that you can mix and match so that you don't need to take as much.

Don't forget your socks and underwear. Also, you'll need a toothbrush, but not to wear.

It will most likely be between 15-18 degrees Celsius. So anything that goes for the temperature. Be careful it can rain pretty heavily and often, especially in that time of the year, so bring an umbrella.

Weather is unpredictable.
My advise, travel as light and unencumbered as you can muster and buy what you might need there if it gets cold.

Well its still pretty chilly in Italy around lows in the thirty's and the highs at the most in the middle sixty's. I would pack mostly warm clothes but a couple changes of luke warm clothes.
