Italy is a beautiful and fascinating country, rich in history but with a modern outlook.
The people in the southern areas are very friendly and helpful, but in the north seem a little more reserved. However, service is generally good except it can be confusing at government departments such as the post office and the train station.
It is helpful for foreigners to learn some of the language, from courtesy and also because not everyone speaks English.
Also, if you wish to know something, it is wise to ask as much information as possible. I wanted to post a parcel and got what I thought were all the details, only to arrive at the post office and find it closes for certain hours of the day. This is information the local people assume everyone will know, but can be confusing for foreigners.
Basically, in Italy, things are done the Italian way. Relax and enjoy it, because then you will have a wonderful time!
Cheers :-) |

Italy is one of the most amazing and beautiful places I have ever seen. Each city is different and full of so much life and culture. I loved it the moment I stepped off the plane. I learned so much from this country and I was only there for 5 days. It has one of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen and the water is gorgeous.
Italians are the nicest people I have ever met. They are so kind to foreigners and are extremely helpful. Me and my friend were lost and we asked a couple people for directions and they were so nice about it. Even though we couldn't really communicate they did there best to help us find our way around. They are so friendly and so much fun just to have dinner with or hang out with. |

the Italian people are generally outgoing and friendly. they are into style and fashion and rarely leave the house without looking their best. Italy is a country rich in culture and tradition. the Italians are very family oriented and the country has a lot of art, history, and beautiful landscape. i now live in the states, but where i grew up in Italy was 20 minutes from ski slopes, 45 minutes from the beach and about an hour from venezia. it's a small country, but it's filled with some spectacular sights. |
