What do you tip a waiter in a restaurant in Italy?

money

That is really funny that someone else in this post said "waiters are paid pretty well" HA, in italy the average salary is like 1000 euro per month, a waiter us usually illegally employed so they sometimes make 400-800 euro per month. Heck thats good money if you live in Ethiopia, however not in Italy. They arn't paid squat.

When you go into a restaurant you are not required to tip. The menu says "Coperto" this is the tip. You pay it to the restaurant, it rarely sees the pocket of the waitor. Give them money directly. On a bill of 50 Euro or more, five bucks is good. Even two bucks. Or you dont have to tip at all, its up to you.

it is allowed and you were satisfied of his service

tipping isn't required but if you enjoyed exceptional service, you might consider 10%... as per earlier suggestion, tip directly to waiter

The rule of tipping is 15-25% of your bill depending on service. If they are bad less, if they are extremelly good, more.

AMAURETTI
THE WAITERS ARE PAID WELL, NOT LIKE THE USA.

BUT A TIP OF 10% CAN AND SHOULD BE GIVEN.
