What do you tip a waiter in italy?

It is not required to tip in Italy, when you sit down there is a fee on the check that will say "coperto" this is your tip, you paid for that table and the service that comes with it. If you tip you wont look like an jerk, they will like it. So even 2-5 Euro is a good tip.

u dont have to tip them because they get salary and no one ever does but if u leave something im sure they' ll be happy...... i waited table out there and they make 110 euro a day but they always expect something from americans because they know that they tip out here.....

Mark Lenders
Usually, nothing. They are paid for their work, as much as any other work of that kind. That's why italians do not want to tip (or if they do, they tip very small amounts) in US restaurants.

I'm Italian. We never tip waiters in bars. In restaurants, we just round up the bill when we are in large parties (4 or more); e.g. dinner for 6 could be 288 euros, we round up to 300. We only tip when extraordinarly satisfied with the service as this is an extra reward to the waiters not a part of their pay.
