I've never been to Bologna but I've been to Florence at least a half dozen times so I have to recommend Florence. You can tour the Duomo, see Michelangelo's sculpture of David, visit the Uffitzi, see the Ponte Vecchio, shop til you drop (especially for Italian gold), and eat until you burst. Florence is considered the capital of Tuscany so there are plenty of awesome daytrips from there. Italy is not known for it's nightlife but, as one other respondent said, Florence is very much an international college town so there's bound to be plenty to do and many friends to make. |

Florence. In fact you will find alot of students(College aged) whom are studying there for the summer. The city is absolutely spectacular and you are always 'Under the Tuscan Sun.' Have fun! |

florence is simply beautiful! i loved seeing the sights, shopping the market places, strolling the city streets, exploring the shops, and relaxing in the boboli gardens. i think it would be a great place to explore and enjoy during the summer. i have never been to bologna, so i have no opinion on what it is like. but from florence you would be able to take day trips to other villages and see some sights. even pisa! florence was my favorite place in italy, it was just so carefree and fun. |
