HI! I'M COME FROM italy and my name is Francesco.
I read your question and I can tell you: Italy is very very very beautiful!
Italy is a state beautiful because is very very old and there are so many museum and places.
If you want to go in Italy the beauty citys are: Rome,Milan,Turin, Venece,Florence,Palermo in sicily and cagliari with its beaches in Sardinia.IT's very beautiful too:L'aquila! But a very strog earthquake has destroyed it.
Food: italian food is very good! It's first ,on all world
Italian people are: a lot pleasant, good, they are friendly and.......... they are of the good person!!!!!!!Like me!!!!!!!!!!!!
Art and culture are so many and so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there are a lot and wonderful place that you will not forget yourself easy! Trusted! calm if the Italians see that you are American will appreciate to you however!
Word that you must learn are:Ciao!!!!!!!!(Hi!) grazie(thanks) per favore(please)ci vediamo (see you soon). And an other thing warning at accent that Italian we have! you could confusion with other words! I hope that you'll like Italy! Ciao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's great but also frustrating. Just walking around is fantastic. The food is much better than one can describe and it feels like you are always eating right (although you will not recognize some things even if you love eating Italian in the states). The summers are fun, the big cities awe inspiring, the small towns magical. People worship the beach and the whole month of August is one giant, all-country, nobody-works, everything-closes, vacation. Really.

At the same time, Italy's old-world isn't limited to it's charm. It's polotics and commerce are incredibly antiquated, beaurocratic, and altogether backwards. As an American it takes a long time to get used to. Nothing happens fast (a favorite Italian response to your desire to do something urgent is "piano, piano" or "slowly slowly" and they mean it). Some things never get done at all. It's very laid back IF you are able to chill and let it go. If you can't, it's all the more stressfull.

All that said, I came in 1998 and I'm still here.

Italy is a dream come true
the people sometime come as rude but is the way they express themselves is like lost in translation. but in Roma they are real rude
In Palermo they don't like outsiders in Umbria good people and plenty of history
in Florence they like everybody they are friendly and they make you feel welcome
in Torino nice and supper friendly
the architecture the culture of Italy is unbelievable. the food is sooo good the cappuccino only in Italy- I hope you will visit Italy
I can never get enough of that country no matter wish city you go the history will be there

I want to know what it is like in Italy
special places to go

1- what its like - incredibly frustrating at times, and wonderful at others.
2- the food - there is no other place in Europe that eats as well.
3- the people - friendly, loud and enjoyable
4- architecture - the Renaissance ring any bells? It was from Italy.
