What is the WiFi situation in Rome, Italy? Is it difficult to be a tourist there and connect to WiFi?

I've heard that you can connect at public places such as the villa borghese. Is this true?

There are a lot of places here with wireless internet access. It isn't difficult to find a place to connect, but it can sometimes be expensive depending on where you are. Some hotels, such as Hotel Verona in Verona, offer free wireless connections. Villa Borghese has several hotspots - for a list of RomaWireless hotspots see: http://www.dolceroma.it/rome-wireless.htm

I don't know about wi-fi as I don't carry my laptop with me when I travel. There are internet cafes scattered about the city. They charge fairly reasonable prices for use of their computers/internet and whatever amount of time you pay for up front can be finished up at a later time if you don't use it all at once. The prices when I was there in August 2008 was around 50 cents to 1 euro for 30 mins. Compared to my hotel which charged me 7 euros for 60 mins.

If you mean while your site seeing, you won't b able to connect to any Internet. Depending on the hotels you stay in, if they're American hotels they will offer a cheap Internet....but nothing is free.
