If you go to eat at the restaurant expect to pay not less than 20 euros/30 dollars practically everywhere (unlike in the US where you can have a meal for 7 dollars). Restaurant tips don't exist in Italy. Otherwise you can choose to buy a sandwich like many Italians do and pay around 8 euros/12 dollars (a panini with water bottle). However, the Italian custom is driving to home for lunch and come back to work in the afternoon, because making food at home is even cheaper.
electric bills are usually paid every two months and they cost from 100 to 200 euros depending on the use you do of electricity.
Get a cell phone, because they are cheaper. Italians don't do contracts with the provider, but they all buy pay-as-you-go sim cards. Most mobile shops don't even know how to handle a cell phone contract. You can top-up the phone with 50 euros and pay around 0.20 cents per minute. However, you can also buy promotion cards with codes that you have to type on the phone and get extra minutes, or unlimited text messages. Sending text messages to a foreign country costs the same as sending them inside of Italy. |
