What is the difference between learning a language when you're ten than when you are thirty?

Hi!
It's never too late to learn a language...

Learning a language is possible at any age - Italian in particular is easy. I tried and failed to learn French at ten but really couldn't be bothered and yet I learned it fluently when I was around thirty.

I am Italian, I've lived 4 years in the states with my family.
My sister and I started speaking English fluently almost better than Italian (with no Italian accent)
My parents insted, who learned English in School in Italy, when they arrived in the states it was harder for them to learn new things.
And they never lost their Italian accent

technically you learn to read til your 8, then from then on read to learn. The brain has these little valves open when we are small which gives us the ability to learn second, third and forth languages. After a certain age 8-10 years these valves close and it becomes more difficult to learn another language. I was 23 when I immigrated to Italy, not speaking a word of Italian other than Ciao. With time, and hearing only the italian language, forcing my brain to learn it, after 6 months I could understand everything-speaking came later more or less after 1 year

when ur younger, like 10, its easier to learn a new language coz ur mind's like a sponge, it just sucks up all u give it

and then when ur older, its not the same, alot of things dont go in without other things coming out.
