What is the law regarding child seats in Italy?

Going to Italy in October, and have a five, three and 1 year old, the one year old will have a car seat anyway, what about the other two?

kaleo
Child Restraints
Children under 12 years are permitted to travel in front seat if special child restraints are installed.

Seat Belts
The use of seat belts is compulsory for all vehicle occupants.

Happy holiday !

i dont know the exact letter of the law but would you not have them all in car seats for safety regardless? how could you put children that age in a car with just a seat belt?

smilies1998
They dont really inforce the laws over here. but the way they drive I would at least make the 3 year sit in one if not all three. i know they are big and a pain but they drive like crazy fools here. most Italians though dont use them and I think they are crazy too.

jonos12
hate to say it, but smiles1998 has it right. Better to err on the side of caution.
