As Galileo proved it is excellent for proving that gravity is a constant. |

The tower was originally constructed as a work of art/beautiful architecture to accompany the baptistry and cathedral in Pisa during a period of prosperity. It is a bell tower, but because of the unfortunate location in soft soil it began to sink and lean.
It is as we all know now a major tourist attraction and iconic image for Italian tourism. The tower brings in a lot of money from the tourism to the local community. It is also a starting point for so much history, which generates more interest into the history of the architecture, the period of time preceding the Italian Renaissance, local genius Galileo Galilei, etcetera. |

It isn't used for anything other than a tourist attraction, at which it does a good job. Since it slants so much it really cannot be used for ordinary things. |

It is there to photograph, thereby earning large sums for developers and makers of film. But I also have my own picture hanging on a bathroom will....nice reminder of a lovely spot. |
