What is the most impressive architectural building in Florence,Italy?

The dome on the Duomo. It was an engineering marvel in its time. Nobody thought it could be done. But Santa Croce is great, too, not so much for the architecture but for the historic people who are buried there. The Uffizzi Gallery is also impressive, if only for the art treasures there. But the building itself is unremarkable.

by far the duomo. i thought i was going to die climbing all the stairs, but the view was worth it. some of my favorite pictures are of that building. i will never forget all 400-something steps i climbed in that place.

IT's the Dome...i agree with the others. The other buildings (Pitti, Ponte Vecchio, Santa Croce, or the Bapistery) don't compare because the history and genius of Brunelleschi is monumental.

The Duomo, without a doubt.

Although the Medici Chapels are pretty impressive too.

Il Duomo is definitely it. Be sure to go to Pitti Palace and the gardens and look across the river at the cathedral; best view of it I can think of.

i like the architectural style of san lorenzo, inside and out, it has a great overall feel. still, for impressive, i have to vote duomo.

if you go in the duomo the cupola di brunelleschi is very impressive. you could also climb to the top of the cupola and see everything. also the campanario di giotto is impressive.
