What part of Italy do I visit? |
I have always wanted to take a trip to Italy, but I'm not quite sure where to go. I am an intermediate photographer and I want to go somewhere with great architecture and great natural scenery. Any advice on where I should visit or where I should stay? |

If you like the water, and interesting architecture, Sicily is great. Taormina and Giardini Naxos offer beautiful views of the Mediterranean. Agrigento is the location of Greek ruins that are fascinating. Palermo has the catacombs, and Zafferana is a nice little town on Mount Etna, which offers interesting subject matter as it is an active volcano. |

I'm Italian,,, and I really have to say that here.. there's so much to see and visit!
First of all, our grate cities:
Rome: panoramic view from the Gianicolo (an hill), St Peter, "Fori Imperiali" (in front of the Colosseum), th Circo Massimo, the "Via Appia", an ancient street where you can find the catacombs, Caracalla (thermal baths), Villa Adriana in a small town near Rome, Tivoli.
Venice: its lagoon, its islands: Murano (famous for its glass making), Burano (lacework), San Lazzaro degli Armeni (where there is a beautiful monastery),
the whole Veneto (the region of Venice), with famous villas designed by Andrea Palladio

Milan, that is quite a modern city, but you can't miss: the Dome, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele (besides the Dome), Castello Sforzesco (a castle), St Ambrogio Church, Palazzo Reale (always interesting exhibitions) near the Dome... Brera (an area of the center)

Tuscany:
Florence: Santa Maria Novella, the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, ....
Siena (sooooo beautiful), with its Piazza del Campo
San Gimignano http://www.sangimignano.com/
Volterra
Monteriggioni
Pisa, and its famous Leaning Tower
Naples, especially some quartiers: the Vomero, Posillipo, and the area of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, Capri, ...
Sicily, the Greek Valle dei Templi (Agrigento), the Etna volcano, Palermo and its Arab quartier, named "La Kalsa"
... Umbria: Assisi (birthplace of St Francis), Gubbio (medieval town)
Emilia Romagna: Ravenna (a typical Byzantine city, where you can also find Dante's Tomb)
... if you're looking for interesting sceneries...
the Dolomites (Belluno, Veneto)
Lake Maggiore and Lake Como (and all those little cities around theme: Erba, Stresa, Bellagio, ...) .. and Lake d'Orta, and Lake Garda.. it's full of Lakes!!
the countryside of Tuscany, Umbria, ... amazing! |

Florence, Rome and Venice are very nice cities. Assissi and Padua are also very nice to see. You would probably be able to get beautiful pictures in most of the cities because it is a beautiful country. |

u definitely must visit Rome, which is a really amazing city. I'd suggest to go to Venice, Florence and Pisa as well. For what concerns natural scenery Toscany has beautiful natural views. And u'll probably like Sicily too.
If you want to visit beautiful places which are not that famous around the world u can find amazing mountains in the region of Trentino Alto Adige.
I hope these information will be useful, for any tip contact me. |
