Sir Alex

What`s the deal with gypsies in Italy?

i heard something about it but here in Canada we don`t have too much info about what happens across the Atlantic. I heard there were too many gypsies and italian authorities were sending them back to the countries were they come from or something like that, can someone enlight me about this?

When Romania was a candidate into the EU, the EU itself had several requirements for the Romania and one of them was to treat the Gypsy population equally as the other nations. Now the Romanians know very well that it is impossible to treat them as citizens as they are kind of lazy, thieves and cheaters. Romania tried to do it and when when it was accepted in the EU, the gypsies got the same rights as the others and they flooded Italy and took with them their own habits: stealing cheating, living in misery, and now the Italian goverment has to deal with this problem. But remeber a Gypsy is a gypsy, no gold will change him or her

Haven't heard that they are being sent back to their own Countries.

I was in Italy a few years back and the only thing I can say about the gypsies there, is that I found them intimidating and aggressive. Not only that, we were warned to ignore any of them that fell down near us and feigned a fit or seizure because they used this as a scam. Go to help them and you would find yourself minus a purse or wallet thanks to their accomplices. Saw the very performance several times within a few hours. Afraid you have to harden your heart to survive them and I AM NOT BEING RACIST, just stating experience.

what you heard is right, and the girl above explained it very well. but what is happening in these days is that Italian people are scared of those Gypsy, because a couple of day ago a Romanian man killed an Italian woman while she was going home from work. Gypsy aren't too many, but the problem is that they have a regular work in Italy, so they become criminals. this is the reason why Italian authorities are sending them back.

I think gypsies in Italy are a legacy of the former royal family, as matter of the fact the daughter of royal family of Montenegro, 1900 circa, became the queen of Italy through marriage.

One of the conditions was her people to have access to Italy, being gypsies then, after generations they never integrated into mainstream of the host country.

Ultimately, to add insult to irony, Romanians and relatives showed with all the related problems.

U.S.A in Italy
The Italian Government and population are all pretty much in an uproar due to the killing of an Italian woman by a Romanian. Not all gypsies are from Romania nor did 'gypsy' originate in Romania (India), but they seem to have the majority here in Italy. One major issue is there ability to get away with 'squatting'. basically parking their campers in a vacant lot or field and setting up camp. This is an obvious eyesore in many locations in my area. You see mostly trashy campers and super sweet Mercedes in which the men drive around dropping their kids off to beg for money or steal. Usually the wives stay at home and take care of the homestead.

There have been cases where unexpected fires have erupted in these camps killing people (mostly children) at times. Unknown whether it was intentional on the part of the ROM gypsies or some Italian vigilante.

basically, it sucks having these people here.
