There are actually many nice things you could ask him to bring back.

The Venetian murano glass jewels are beautiful and I think you can get them all over Italy.

Italy is known for pizzas.. Well , i'd say ask him to get some good outfits and dazzling ear ings from there ... so that you can add a flavour of Italy to your daily dressing ..

it depends on what part of Italy he is going to. Food is great but don't get that--get something lasting. Italy has great leather stuff. Clothes generally are very chic--but most guys aren't good at picking that stuff out. A little china set would be good--Italy excels at some real nice modern type stuff. There are just a bunch of craft and art stuff that would be ideal--too numerous to mention--tell him the kind of thing you like and that might be best.

It depends on what part of Italy he is going to. We moved to Naples two years ago when my husband got stationed here, and this is close to Pompeii, which is known for it's cameos. Mt. Vesuvius is also right here, and they have an incredible gift shop that offers these amazing figurines, jewelery and statues made from either lava rock or ash, and they color a lot of it! It's so pretty! Also, anything Capodimonote is beautiful! They are ceramics that are all made by hand, and they are as low as 15.00, all the way up to thousands. But they are so pretty! I have collected them since moving here, and it's what I take home as gifts from my mom and mother-in-law.
If he's going to Rome, he'll be surrounded by gift shops that will offer just about any Italian souvenir you could want! The Vatican also has an amazing gift shop, and there are vendors all around the Coliseum that will have great stuff for sale!
Anywhere he is going, he'll be able to find you something wonderful. This is an amazing Country!

designer clothes, leather goods and beautiful murano glass to name but a few. italy has got to be one of the places in the world that offers such a varied choice of "what to buy" that you could go crazy deciding. believe me anything he brings you back will be gorgeous and priceless.
