Which Novotel are you staying at? There's the Novotel Linate Aeroporto which is actually about 4 km from the airport and 10 from the Duomo & La Scala or Brera areas of the city. From there, you could take the shuttle bus to the airport and ten from there to Milano Centrale. The Novotel Nord Ca' Granada is about 4 km from the Duomo/La Scala or 3 from the Brera art gallery. There's a metro stop in walking distance, but it isn't really close.
For things to do: go see the Duomo. While you're there, go up on the roof. You can do some shopping in the Galleria next to the Duomo. La Scala is on the opposite side of the shopping center. There's a small, but nice museum there. The Brera art gallery is definitely worth visiting. If you can get a reservation, go see the Last Supper. If you're interested in upscale shopping, there are several streets with the elite shops.
Be sure to try the risotto Milanese for a meal while you're there. |

i really duno where this hotel is, but i suggest you should go to the city center ("duomo" metro stop) and visit as much as you can... the cathedral, the scala theatre, squares and do a lot of shopping there! for meals i think you shouln't eat there, because places are very expencive and just good for tourists :) move walking to brera area, which is simply wonderful, and there you can find many little restaurants and bars (also expencive, but they worth it!). yep, for the last supper you must have a reservation, made a long time before... visit the castello sforzesco (cairoli metro station) and have a walk through the park behind it if it's sunny...
what about watching a football match at the stadion? it's very funny and exciting! but duno where you are coming and duno if there will be some match and if you manage to get the tickets...
usually at palazzo reale, next to the cathedral there are a lot of beautiful art shows of great painters... it doesn't cost much, it's open even on sundays and you can get an interactive (or real) guide which speaks your language...
what else?
here are some of my favourite shops: carpe diem in viale tunisia (metro porta venezia), purple in via torino (duomo), bryan & barry in via borgogna (san babila)...
if you need more information just mail me!
enjoy your trip! |

Milan has the painting The Last Supper, and a fabulous cathedral! If you really enjoy opera, check out LaScala, one of the most famous opera houses in the world. Food -- pasta is always great, and don't forget the gelatto (special Italian "ice cream")! |
