The Duomo, the Academy, the Ufizi, take a day trip to Piza, and the country side around Florence.
The desk at the hotel can get you tickets to the sites and museums so you do not have to stand in line, they have a time for entry.
Get a book before you go and decide which things to see first. |

I studied abroad in Florence for 4 months and I would say:
The Duomo obviously- it's amazing
The Uffizi
Boboli Gardens -garden at the Medici Palace
Ponte Vecchio
Michelangelo Garden/HIll which overlooks the city
The Baptistery-located outside the Duomo has a gold mosaic ceiling and is breathtaking! only a few euro to go in.
Santa Croce
Piazza della Signorina-near the Uffizi
go see the market near the train station which opens early in the morning. I think everyday but definitely on the weekends.
La Academia- the museum where the REAL David is located along with others...
Also- the BEST Restaurant in Florence is called "Il Baracchio" on Via Vigna Vecchia. Which is the street that IL Bargello is located on. It is very reasonably priced, has great service and AMAZING food. |

The first day you should take the "hop on, hop off" bus. It tours around all the good sites, and has a audio description of what you are seeing. That way you can get a good overview, and then decide what you have seen enough of, and what you want to come back and take a good look at in the next couple days. You will also be able to take lots of pictures.
In Florence the red double decker leaves from across the street from the train station. Wear a coat and hat, it gets cool up on top of the open bus at that time of year.
Definitely hit the Uffizi as well. You can book tickets online before you leave (recommended). |
