it is VERY hot here in the summer so bring a lot of light, flowy clothing. Bring sweaters though because it can cool at night depending on where you are. i recommend knee-length skirts [hoochie jean skirts/shorts are not appropriate for visiting churches and also look ridiculous; also wear a shirt that covers your shoulders or bring a wrap to wear for churches, otherwise you will not be let in], dark jeans, sun dresses, polo shirts, dressier tops, a nice bag and heels. italians look good even when going to the grocery store.
at night, step it up a notch. silk blouses and dresses are most popular, almost always worn with heels - flip flops are rare. accessories [gold and silver; no chunky tacky pieces] are also very popular.

the weather will be 95 degrees faherheit but it will feel like 105 with the humidity and burning hot sun. I just came back july 1st and when you go it will be even hotter, dress VERY light in tank tops and shorts, dont forget tennis shoes in white. You will be walking ALOT. make sure you go to rome. sexy guys wait for you. have fun!

Lots of people there wear Linen, esp in venice b/c it can get hot there. Just bring light clothing with you like linen, and light colors and you should be fine. If you are going to visit churchs, i would suggest you bring a shawl with you to cover your shoulders incase you wear a tank top. And bring something that covers at least down to your knees, like I mentioned above, respect thing for the church. Have fun, you'll have a blast!

I don't know what the whether is like now, I've only been in the fall and winter...but whatever you take, make it stylish. Italians are very stylish people and they don't dress as casual as Americans do. It's your chance to look as fabulous as Italians everyday!

As mentioned by other light weight clothing is good.

I like to take skirts that cover my knees. I have a pair of comfortable walking sandals. When in a park I can pull the skirt off my legs, but I don't have to be worried about going into churches.

I also wear sleeveless tops, but carry a shawl/scarf that I can use to cove my shoulders. When not wearing it I can easily tie it on my purse.

You will never go wrong with bringing black clothing.

EVERYTHING. It rains in Venice a LOT. Wear shorts and flip flops in Venice, because St. Mark's Square floods EVERY night.
Also, have a hoodie or jacket, just in case. Because of the rain, it might be cold.
