The best way is to take the train. One good option is to take the night train. You can sleep through the night on the train and arrive in Venice early in the morning without having a hotl expense for the night.

The standard fare for a berth in a 4 bed cuchete is 52.50 euro, but there's a discounted Amica fare for 45.20 if you buy the ticket at least a day in advance. |

Take the train, it's the cheapest. You could fly from Rome to Venice's Marco Polo airport but you'll need to add the costs of getting to and from the airport, and the time needed will be about the same a train.
Check times and prices on the Italian national rail site TrenItalia: http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=3fdbe14114bc9110VgnVCM10000080a3e90aRCRD |

Last summer I purchased a Eurail Pass at www.eurail.com. This was great because we stopped in multiple cities over a month. Taking a train from Venice to Rome is easy, but requires a reservation for the train. |

since you posted this in italy and travel, I am guessing you are talking about rome and venice in italy..
I am guessing that you should first of check the prize of the trains and then compare it to some cheap flights and see what's cheaper!!! of course, if you have alot of luggage, plane would be better then train, but depending on the prize you should compare!!! |

I definitely would never recommend flying. I'm not sure if they even have flights.
You can check trains here: http://www.italiarail.com/
on the top right of the page there's the box to put your travel information.
Or, while in Rome go to Termini Station and you can get train tickets there. It should take a few hours to travel and shouldn't be too, too expensive. I was in Italy from September to December that just passed and traveling was never that expensive. Have a safe trip! |
