If you could really do it, it would be awesome. Italy is such a beautiful country and the Italians are such friendly, warm people. I've travelled a lot and Italy is my absolute favorite place.

Im a south african girl that has been living in rome for the past two years. make no joke but it is difficult for all foreigners to live here. in the first few weeks things are so exiting and you learn your area, make some acquantances ect..but when things start to cool down you start to miss your country very much, it is here where your determination to succeed will be tested. another very important thing to remember when you come to italy is to learn italian, without the language there will be times when you will feel extremely frustrated and long for that sense of true communication, but there are many schools where you can learn in three or six months. in my experience i have found that you have to know a few italians closely as they will help you with things you will need to get done here.
visit www.romebuddy.com for more detailed info of the city, what to expect and what not to expect. otherwise when you get through that difficult period it really is a pleasure to be here, walking in the lovely city streets, maybe meet a nice italian man!
hope this helps, just remember that without determination and hard effort you will have a difficult time adapting. |

Our daughter is studying in Rome for 4 months. She absolutely loves it. She finds the only obstacle is in the language, although she does manage well. The way she describes it is the best cultural experience she will ever have! |

Lern the language well !!! otherwise it'll be worse than France.
Long Term You'll run into problems of day to day getting things done if you dont have friends in the relevant places. |

In rome, you will be considered to be exotic, because you are from America. if you are plain, you will be beautiful. If you are pretty, you will be gorgeous. Now you have to decide if you want to take condome. I recomend that you do, and lots of them. |

I suggest you go there first to visit and spend some time and then you will know whether it is for you. Just know that the driving in Rome is wild-definitely more hectic. If you want more laid back then there are other parts of Italy that provide that more then Rome-as it is a larger city. |
