As italian I find a bit sad and, why not?, offensive to read people saying that Italy is famous for pizza. So I send you a link to an overall vision of Italy, that would help you to have some serious ideas about my country. Cheers!

I noticed that few people pointed out the fact that Italy has probably the highest concentration of famous historical sites and monuments in the WORLD. Everybody talking about, pizza, spaghetti, mafia... stereotypes....
You give me a reason to think that you're a bunch of lazy and ignorant fatties. Please prove I'm wrong.

Gondola rides down the canals in Venice. The Pope and Vatican City. And you cannot leave out the country side of Tuscany with its beautiful trees and wine vineyards. Some of the best wine is imported from Italy. Italy also has beautiful lavender fields. The great Roman Empire.

it's where the word Volcano originated
Pompeii was one of a number of towns located around the base of Mount Vesuvius. Pompeii and many of it's neighboring communities, suffered damage or destruction when Vesuvius erupted.
it was the day after Vulcanalia(Volcano), the festival of the Roman god of fire.
