Best Time: April/May or September/October
Cheapest: November-March, excluding Christmas time
So, best AND cheapest would be end of March/beginning of November
TRUTH: ANYTIME in Italy is the BEST because you are in Italy and ever since the Euro and the decline of the dollar there really isn't a cheapest anymore. |

I got to go there for only $100. The rest of the cost was financed -- it was a Mission Trip. |

A lot of people have recommended the off season, October through March, but haven't warned you about the downfall. It's very rainy and gray here during those months. It's definitely more expensive during the summer, but it is warm, sunny, and beautiful. You can try early spring and fall as some have recommended, while the seasons are still changing. It will cost less but you are gambling with the weather during that time period. Could turn out nice or could rain the whole week you're here.
Of course, if a little cold and rainy weather doesn't bother you the winter could be perfect. |

May/early June, or September and October. It's not as hot and fares and hotel rates are cheaper. |

late september, the weather is still nice and the hotel and travel prices drop. |

Avoid August as it's sooooooo hot in the cities. October to March can be lovely. |

From October until early March. Then the costs go up as does the heat, tourism, and wait times. |
