Many years ago, I went to Italy in June and it was great weather but the place was FULL of tourists.
I went to Italy last Christmas/January and thought it was marvellous - the weather was cold but it did not stop us from walking around the towns and cities, even at night. We would stay out on foot until late at night, eating the superb gelato as we walked. But the place was full of locals; not even once did anyone try to "con" us or rip us off. The people were friendly and helpful, understanding and co-operative.
I would definitely go again at the same time of year; leave the summer for the other tourists!

We really enjoyed touring Italy in September. The temps were excellent. The crowds were not as bad.
Another good time to go to Italy is in December when everything is decorated for the holidays.

It depends on the place u want to go to. If u mean going to the sea of course the best month is june. Schools end the second or third week of june so nothing is really busy... If u want to see some towns the best is september. Not busy not hot. NEVER in summer!
