MARCO
|
I was born in Rome and I lived there most of my life...
Since moving to London 10 years ago I went back just a few times and always in the middle of summer...but, then again, being Italian, I am used to the heat...
However in July and August the city is not very vibrant, all the shops are closed, as local people go away for their holiday leaving behind a ghost-like place...
The best time is probably just before summer (May) or just before the end (September)....the weather then is still very good!!! |

Nicholas B- what's wrong with 'wogs' exactly.
Sorry.. hehe. I used to live in Rome before we moved to England and to be honest there is no best time to visit Rome. It's just like every other capital city. If busier. If you're not to keen on heat go late September to early April. Main tourist seasons are June- August and November- January. But it's busy all year round. If you do go I hope you have a great time -x- |

I went in Mid March and it only rained one day. I also only had to wear a light jacket. I hear going in the Summer time is a bad idea... more crowded and extremely hot... |

I agree with people that have recommended you going in March.
I went in March last year and the weather was lovely. It was warm enough for a long sleeve top or light jacket.
We walked everywhere so it was nice not to get too hot and bothered!!
Enjoy your trip and you must go and see the trevi fountain - very busy there but amazing!! |

Better in spring. Because in summer it is 40 grades. Dont do it, I did it last summer, and we couldnt breath |

March or April would be your best bet. |

Based on the two time frames you offered, I would have to say early September because it wouldn't be as hot and there won't be as many tourists. But in my own experience (I went to Rome in July and again between December 26-Jan 15), I would go in December or January because there aren't that many tourists as in the summer, the weather is not very cold, and Christmastime/Befana in Rome is amazing. |

May and september not too hot not too cold |

?

I love going in December, just before Christmas. Summer would be pretty hot. |
|

hope this helps
 |
early September, probably. Both for weather reasons and for vibrancy. I went in December. It was a little cooler than the summer, but absolutely fantastic. |

I've gone in October, March and May. The weather was perfect for my trips in October and March - not too hot, not too cool. But in May, the temperature was almost unbearably hot. I recommend that you go before April or after September, if you can. Avoid going in the summer. |

id say, between the two youve mentioned, early september cos mid june might be too hot for british standards.. |
