Where's the most amazing place you've ever stood?

I must say walking through the ancient city of Pompeii and seeing petrified corpses, animals, pottery, etc. Everything is white and stone...very odd feeling to walk through the place.

There've been many more places but that was something else. There was a huge tower you could stand on and see the entire city from above too. Wish I could have stayed longer and seen more!

I must say I haven't seen much of Italy but so far the most amazing place I ever stood was on an evening at Lago di Como in a small village named Moltrasio..The sun was already under but we were looking at the lake, it was a bit dark but even then it was wonderful,amazing,..I could stand there forever and never leave, I should give so much money to stand there right now! I lost my heart at the Lake of Como and almost every place over there is an amazing place. I hope to find my heart back there in a couple of years and to keep it over there.

Inside of the Vatican church. I was awestruck by the sheer size of the building from the inside, the ceiling must have been 10 stories high!

The whole building is filled with the finest art in the world, you can see the Sistine Chapel and other fine paintings and statues. The gold centerpiece, the intricate designs...so cool.

Just the courtyard can hold 10,000 people during an audience with the Pope. It is simply amazing how wealthy the Vatican's heritage is.

Time travler
I agree with you very much, but right away I though about being in Normandy, France. Seeing all those American graves and in the background a group singing the Star Bangaled Banner was the most awesome sight ever. It gave me chills similar to the feeling you get at Pearl harbor, but much more intense.
