Where in Italy is it most common to have red hair?

Is it in the north (Veneto, Piedmont, Friuli-Venezia Giulia) or is it in the south (Sicily)? I know it can be found everywhere in Italy, but where is it most common? Perhaps Emilia Romagna?

Hi there is a particular aew in emilia romagna where a lot of people are red. this because them ancescers are french. they live in one particolar valley. also you can find a lot of people with red hair around italy. in italy the blonde people are common with blue or green eyes too expecially in the south of italy, sicily and puglia. i am italian i moved in perth and i have a red beard but unfortunatelly the hair are brownish. when i moved in australia in the 2006 the aussie dont belive i was italian because i was not short ,black and hairy but tall brownish hair with red beard.
chers from perth to an ex meneghino.

My family is from southern Italy and Sicily....we do have some red heads in our family. Anyone who knows the history of Sicily or Southern Italy would know that this could happen (past influences of other cultures and conquorers).

you can find red hair people everywhere in Italy...not just in the north!!! maybe those guys that answered to you , they don't know that in The south ,in Sicily too we had people from Noth europe civilization so you can find blonde hair and light blue eyes too...not just dark hair.

anyway you can find red hair people in each part of Italy/

.Laura
In the south people ARE NOT all dark as some dumbs told you, likely they never been in the south (no surprise)...a VERY big number of southerns got blond hair and blue eyes...you can find some red heads as well remember the south was invaded by the Normans who were Vikings so plenly of blond and red hair specially in Puglia i would say, dark people are more common in some other parts of Italy included the north and Emilia Romagna is a example where specially along the coast you find very dark hair and eyes, obviously a number of red heads are all over italy even if is less common than in place like the north Europe and yes in Veneto and Friuli you can find those as well still you will find more in the south where the Normans been (as well as dark type due from moorish). My relatives emigrated to Australia as well from Puglia and they all got blue eyes and blond hair no one would believe they was from the south of Italy plus i got cousins who are totally gingers
