It depends whether you're moving there on your own, or if your employer is transferring you there.

Every area of Rome has its own charm, be it the "student town" in San Lorenzo (close to Europe's largest university), the former working-class suburb of Garbatella (now one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods), the stately mansions in the upscale Parioli district, once home to diplomats and retired admirals and generals, and now mostly hoarded by the "new rich" or turned into embassies and law practices.

If you want to live in a quiet residential area, but not too far from the city center, you could look for an apartment in the mansions lining Via Cortina d'Ampezzo, via della Camilluccia and via Flaminia Vecchia, if you'd rather rent a house, you could look for something in Casal Palocco and Axa in the south of the city, or either Le Rughe or Olgiata in the north (the last one is a kind of "gated community" preferred by politicians and celebrities for the privacy it grants to its residents).

If your budget doesnt't allow you pricey choices, you'd better look on websites like "Porta Portese", "Solo Affitti" and "Kijiji" and just look for what's up for grabs cheaply.

I live in Rome since when I was born,Well, obviously it's better to live in the center of the city.
Of course it depends on the amount you wanna spend.I suggest Castro Pretorio. This area it's city center,it's not noisy.you got the subway station,10 minutes on foot. It's metro B,and you gotta do just one stop to attive to line A,where you can reach every part of Rome more or less.So i suggest this district.Of course, you can stay at via del corso and nearby too,it's not too noisy, but i guess prices are higher.
Good luck,and good stay

If you wanna know more about rome just send me and email

Have a nice day

define best.
Best hotels on Via Veneto, quiet, fancy, and pricey
but not as centrally located as others
