I'm from Gallipoli, and I think we have the best beach. The southern tip in my opinion is better then the north. The north is colder and the water isn't as pretty.
Here are some more that I like:
Tore Vado
Tabarano
Baia Verde
La Palascia
La strea
Truglione
Siderno is nice, pretty populated
Bari
Those are just a few. |

best beaches and sea is in: liguria all the region is beautyfull(5terre, porto venere, alassio, santa margherita, diano marina and many others),sardinia has cristall waters, some parts of calabria(i personally like the jonic coast wich is more "wild" with a small ammount of touristic resort),maratea wich is at the border between basilicata and calabria, some places in puglia on far south.
but i ve to say that as organizations and services (hospitals, tourist info, transports, facilities)offered the north is better. |

Hello
Italy is all beautiful - the food also is great
I am from a Beautiful Mediterranean island called Sardinia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sardinia
if u are from UK I suggest u to check Ryan air website - sometime I spend £ 40 return ticket Stan stead (London) to Alghero (Sardinia)
also easy jet is cheaper
you can book a bed&breakfast in Alghero - campings are cheap - but if u are going with kids it is better choise a hotel
This to rules work wherever u go, England, Italy or anywhere:
1- if u go to a restaurant or hotel with sea view it will be more expensive
2-never eat in a restaurant empty
you can check for videos about Sardinia in utube - this one is in English - I hope u like

wherever u decide to go I wish a lovely holiday |

If you are going to be in Lucca, the closest beach is Via Reggio. It is about an hour away. It is nothing outrageously special. It is clean and a lot of people go there. But, be aware. YOU WILL GET BURNT! even if you never get burnt, like i do. YOU WILL. so, don't be like me and have your back peeling for days because you didn't want to listen to mom. |

http://www.italiantourism.com/beaches.html
Lucca is a very beautiful city, you can find many monuments, but no beaches...unfortunately!
I also send you a link about Lucca...so you can compare and decide if you like more a "sea&sun holiday" or an "art holiday"!
