There are many amazing places to visit in Italy. I take students and families to Italy every summer - the key is to mix site seeing and fun, leisure activities. The highlights are usually Rome, Florence and Venice. However, I like to spend time in Rome and then venture out from there by taking day trips via train to the surrounding area - Pompeii, Ostia Antica, Herculaneum, Tivoli, Hadrian's Villa and Subiaco. This saves time packing and repacking. I typically spend 10 days in Rome or 5+ days in Rome and then several days in Florence.

Trips to the beach are a must! The food is wonderful - authentic Italian pizza and gelato!

Read my blog entry to learn about some amazing activities going on in Rome:

Oh my god! Come on people. You have to take teenagers to the city or places of importances. Specially Rome, Florence, or Venice. Even Pisa, Milan, or Turino.

Teenagers would definately enjoy the sun and the beaches of the Amalfi Coast, but what teenager isn't into fashion, movies, and seeing the popular things of Italy.

If I was to a teenager again in Italy, I would definately want to see the Colosseum and St. Peter's. What Abercrombie wearing teenager, boy or girl, wouldn't want to see the latest European fashion in Milan. Even the father and son car fans would love to see Ferraris and Lamberginis in Milan too.

Plus Florence is filled with study aboard students, so your teenagers might meet or know someone of someone that's there.

Vacation is meant to be relaxing and fun, but it doesn't have to be completely on the Beach. I think a trip to Rome, with a side trip to Florence and the Amalfi Coast would do you and your two teenagers a lot of experience.

FYI, did you know that Florence was a destination for one of the member's of Dawson Creek back in the day?

Definitely southern, the puglia region is great. Coastline beaches are all rocky but fun to swim in and explore. Also it is a beautiful region.

During summertime, southern italy so they will enjoy the fabulous beaches (I suggest around Lecce, Puglia)
