Try Marche or Abruzzo...they got very nice scenery and place are peaceful and beautiful

Rome, Florence, and Bologna are wonderful and have a lot of things to do. Milan is interesting, but very polluted and there's not as much art as in Rome =) If you want to visit smaller cities, go to Siena ,Padova (where I'm from!), Ferrara... the list could go on and on! Definetly avoid spendind all of your time in Venice....it's an amazing city but it's difficult to live there.

Milano definitely! i lived there for 6 years and it is so interesting u will never get bored,, it is like the downtown of italy, the center of everything,, i love milano!

There are sooooo many nice places to see in Italy.This is really hard to answer.
I will say Rome.It's a very busy town and full of things to look at and explore.From ancient to modern you will have anything your hearts desire.
Price-wise,I have no clue anymore,SORRY.I haven't been there in awhile but you may be know that cities with so many attractions are most likely a little bit more expensive than a one horse town with nothing to do.
Even if you decide for another town in beautiful Italy,like I said there are way to many ----
Don't leave before you haven't been in Rome.That would truely be a loss!

It's really tough to answer your question...I would say in the Tuscany region ( town? Florence for ex.), because there are tons of things to do...

I have 3 *bests* in relation to what they offer.

Lake Como/Lago di Como: boating, hiking (in the surrounding mountains) and of course, :-P, being so close to George Clooney.

Venice/Venezia: the gondolas, the water canals, the food and the crowds if you don't mind them!

Florence/Firenze: if art is your thing then this city is a must.

Unless you are able to lock in on an apartment at a great price, count on 200 euros a day minimum. Based on how I work our travel budget, that's 90/hotel, 80/meals, 30/entrance fees, souvenirs, etc. That's for 2 people and does not include travel expenses. Hope this helps somewhat!

this is pretty an hard question because we really have a lot of beautiful places to see (but i'm sure this is a truth for every country)..it depends on what kind of landscapes you would like to see, if you wish to stay in a big city or in a town, and this makes difference because we have some really small towns that are simply wonderful..on the seaside, on the mountains..anyway i think you should not loose the opportunity of visiting rome because it really has that kind of features and..magical, that you won't find somewhere else...
life is not so expensive here for foreign people (but mind all that typical restaurants in historical places that are just for tourists..you won't eat well and you'll pay too much)

It's hard to say because Italy is beautiful, if you like big cities with a lot of experiences you can saty in Milano, Rome, Torino, but i prefer small cities or towns, like Arona, north of Italy, nice play to live
and $$$, it's ok,

I spent this past summer living in Castiglion Fiorentino, it is a small city in the Tuscany region. I would recommend one of the smaller town in Tuscany as opposed to a big city. The bigger cities such as Rome, even though there is amazing things to see, is much like bigger cities anywhere else, such as NYC or Paris. In the smaller towns you really get to enjoy and experience the Italian culture.
A few town I would suggest looking in to would be Cortona, Arezzo or Siena.

What's great about these towns is that they are train rides away from the bigger cities like Rome or Florence. Venice is amazing as well, but incredibly expensive but always wonderful to visit.
