The main railway station is Central Station , which is served by Trenitalia , the State Railways. Regular trains serve all Italian cities (Turin, Venice, Rome, Naples, Florence and many others), and some European cities (Barcelona, Zurich, Geneva, Munich, Paris, Stuttgart, Zagreb, Vienna)

Unless you love trains and you have a lot of time, you may want to consider one of Europe's budget airlines for your trips. Check out RyanAir or EasyJet, although there are others -- they are often cheaper than the train and get you where you want to go faster. One note though: They often fly to secondary airports in major cities meaning a little bit more effort to get to where you want to be.
