Two weeks is deffinitly not enough to visit everything in Italy. But it is what it is. Through my experience, I traveled for two weeks to Italy last summer and this is how I spent the time.
I flew into Pisa and spent a few hours (2 hours) taking in the beauty of the leaning tower of Pisa.
After that I took a bus straight to my hotel in Florence, which is 1-1.5 hours away from Pisa.
I spent 3 days in Florence visiting the museums, resturants, taking tours about the city and spending some nights at the clubs not far from the center.
During my stay at Florence, I took a train from the main station in the city to Venice for a day. I spent the night sleeping on two chairs outside a bar in San Marco Square (cheaper then getting a room at last minute, which is also nearly impossible).
Venice is incredible with its beautiful shops, water ways and architecture. But beward, the water does give off a small odor.
Next, after my return to florence, I traveled by bus (or train if you perfer) to Rome for 4 days. On day one I walked the streets, picked a few nice resturants and ice cream shops. On day two I went on a tour of the Pantheon, Fountain of trevi, the Colosseum, and many other impressive sites of Rome. On day two, in the morning I visited and toured the Jewish ghetto and continued onto St. Peter's Basilica and tour a tour of the excavation under the church. On day three we visited the roman ruins and took a tour inside the Colosseum. Afterwards we went into the Vatican's museum which finished off with Michelangelo's impressive master piece. On the last day, we spent the morning at the Borghese art museum and then relaxed the rest of the day to visit any highlights. At night time, Rome is great to go walking around to catch a drink and meet people. Simply go to Piazza Navona and around the corner there is a huge plaza full of people drinking it up.
Next on the tour, we went south to Sorrento, which was deffinitely my favorite due to its relaxed atmosphere. From this incredible city, we traveled to capri by boat, naples by train, and we saw the ruins of pompei.
In all, I thought the two weeks were spent wisely. |
