Where to live in Italy? |
I studied abroad in Florence, Italy for 4 months-but found the city too...touristy. I've also seen Rome, Milan, Venice, Lucca and Siena.
(I loved Siena!)
I'm thinking of teaching English in Italy and was wondering where I should look.
I'm 23 -female BTW. Additional Details I do really like Tuscany, is there a specific city in Tuscany someone can give me and why? Thanks!! |

If you really want to come to Italy, and you want to go to Tuscany, well, you can consider Siena, Lucca and Grosseto. They are all wonderful cities and less "tourist-y" then Firenze.
Grosseto is too little for my taste. Siena is full of tourism, but not like Firenze. You could check Pisa out, it's a nice compromise.
There's a city you haven't visited you might like living in it. It's Verona, in Veneto. Very beautiful, very vibrant. Not very big, yet big enough to be entertaining. I live near Verona so I admit I am partial to it. :)
I hope you'll have fun living in Italy.
Good luck. |

I think that Lucca is a beautiful town, and would be worth considering as it is beautifully maintained and I just get the idea it would be a good place to work. |

Since you already know that you like Siena, why not try there? You might also look at Arezzo - the old town there is pretty interestig and it has good connections to go out exploring in Italy. However, where are you from? If you're not an EU citizen, you need a visa that allows you to live and work in Italy. Visa information is here: http://www.esteri.it/visti/index_eng.asp . Jobs aren't easy to come by right now. |
