If you want to eat authentic roman cuisine...

Largo dei Librai, near Campo de' Fiori

Here you can eat "Filetti di BaccalĂ " (salted cod filets) :)))

At "ghetto", (the Jews zone)

Here you can eat "carfiofi alla giudia" (deep-fried artichokes).

At "Campo de' Fiori"

you can eat "Spaghetti alla carbonara" (LA CARBONARA) and "Pizza Romana" (FORNO)
Look at this site!!!!!! http://www.fornocampodefiori.com/

Typical roman restaurants are:

There's a lot of good places in Rome. Just watch out for tourist traps, which are mainly located around the main touristy sites. For example, my first time there we went to the Pantheon and ate near there. The food tasted like it was warmed up in the microwave. Like one other person mentioned, tried Trastevere. Great area, great food. Also ask the concierge where your staying at for suggestions. They have never led me wrong.

Right around Campo dei Fiori is Trattoria der Pallaro... definitely check it out!

Behind StPeter&Paul there is a great sea food restaurant , it's called "Quattro mori", it was really the best place , with yammie food. I'm sure you'll find the adress in internet. another tip would be "la bruschetta" in Via Sardegna. (try the Fior di Zucca)

Gelato (ice cream) at the Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi). Facing the fountain it is on the right corner.
