hi! i live in rome and i can suggest you that if you want to come in italy for the new year eve rome is definitely the best place! in a lot of square there are concerts and parties and everywhrere is full of people... but if you don't want to stay outside (is a bit cold) you can go in a disco, is very expencive (not less than 50 euro to enter) but you will enjoy for sure!

I suggest a dinner in one of the little restaurants in the centre and than just a walk around the city centre, during the night are organised lots of concert open air with the possibility to drink, the atmosphere is magic. Anyway if u want to go in a club there are lots, like The Piper club where u can have the dinner+eve with 80€ per person. You have to book in advance in all the Rome's clubs.Visit the site:www.listasuperman.com(english version) and www.comune.roma.it and www.travelplan.it/rome_guide.htm and www.dolceroma.it and www.romeguide.it
enjoy!!!!

In the main squares of rome events and concerts are organized, eg in piazza del popolo. you should contact the tourism office, they can give you plenty of details. dining out is a bit hard as I think you have to book a lot in advance.

i have been to rome this summer and i fell in love with it.
i would not know exactly where to go to have fun because we were mainly interested in visiting things as much as possible.
But anyway, just taking a walk throughout the city is wonderful.
From the Colloseum take the street towards Vittoriano or as it is called "L'altare della patria", it is nearby, than ahead towards La Fontana di Trevi and so on.
I cannot give you the name of the streets as I do not know it, anyway do not forget to buy yourself a map.
Oh, and one more thing! Before going, study a little bit the ancient history of Rome, this way you will understand and maybe appreciate better what Rome is about.

Have fun!!

usually new years eve in rome can be really expensive, a restaurant can charge up to 100 or more euro a person for a meal. I suggest to book in trattoria in the center and go around the city.
