Where are you going in Italy?
When I went, I visited the Amalfi Coast and Capri (Sorrento, Amalfi, Capri, Ravello), and spent some time in Rome as well.
The Amalfi area is truly beautiful, and the Isle of Capri was a wonderful day trip. You can probably not go wrong with the hotels in these areas, but I can tell you where I stayed. In Sorrento, we stayed at Hotel Minerva, which is a bit away from the city so is quiet, but is a short, pleasant walk to all the sights and sounds. In Amalfi, we stayed at the Hotel Luna Convento, which used to be a Convent, and perches high above the sea and has beautiful views. Again, set a bit away from the town, so it's quiet but is not far to walk to get to the main attractions. And in Rome, we stayed in a very nice hotel tucked in the Trastavere called Hotel Santa Maria which wwas a nice, centrally-located place. We set out walking from our hotel, and were able to see many sights and return to the hotel which has good food in a short walking distance. Good luck finding it, though... cars can't get there! Have the taxi take you to the Piazza de Santa Maria in Trastevere., and it's a short walk up a side alley to the front gate. Not much to look at outside, but stunningly beautiful inside, a real treat.
None of these hotels have a lot of room and all book up fast, so make your reservations!
Good luck, have a great trip.

In my opinion, There is a nice hotel in Vicenza! It has free movie rentals, and free hot chocolate! You should go to that hotel in Italy!

Northern Italy is great. There are so many other countries accessable from there also, Austria, Croatia, Germany, Slovenia (great casinos)

Venice is a very unique experience. If your into art Conegliano is a small town about 15 minutes from Venice that has beautiful art.

If you visit Itay do the "tourist" things but also try to see the local sites the markets, every town has a local market every week. Italy is beautiful and easy to navigate, the train goes any where in Italy. You can fly into Venice get a train pass and go EVERYWHERE.

Go to the untapped South! Great Food, Great Views, Great People and Great Bargains!

Taormina in Sicily is the best City I have ever been to!
Near Etna (Volcano).
Look it up.
