Rome, without no shadow of doubt. And the sun in Rome is wonderful, believe me.

Well, if your wanting to sightsee, pick Rome. But, if your wanting more to relax, choose the beach. I'm a water lover so I'd probably choose the beach.

If you choose Rome, you can still go to the beach, take the Train to Lido di Ostia. You can spend the day there or several days, it is a real lovely city just outside of Rome on the Mediterranean Sea. I believe it is the beach closest to Rome. We found the city there easily, the beach there was clean and the people hospitable. Rome was build a little inland from the coast for protection purposes and Lido was build on the coast. It was the vacation spot for the ancient Romans. I have heard some people call it by the name of Lido di Roma. Whatever name it is called it is a fun place to visit and only about an hour or so from Rome..Good Luck and have fun.
