Florence is in the heart of Tuscany. Overall Tuscany is a beautiful area of Italy. Especially when you leave the major cities of Florence and Siena. I would spend a couple of days in each city but make your way out of the city and go to the smaller towns such as Orvieto or Bagnoreggio, here you can experience the true Tuscany. And also definately try to make it towards the water, the Mediterranean is beautiful.

Yea, Florence sucks. There are way too many tourists. And Florentines hate tourists. And there are super long lines for everything. Make reservations for the Accademia, the Uffizi, go there during the day, then go up to Piazzale Michelangelo for sunset for a great view of Florence. And if you like sculpture a lot, go to the Bargello before 1. And then leave Florence.

Florence is in Tuscany, first of all. So you can see Florence while you visit Tuscany. You can see plenty of Florence in a couple of days, then go around Tuscany and see the landscape and the minor cities and towns.

Firenze is in Toscano. Lucca is one of the most perfect medieval cities nearby.

Florence is part of tuscany. but do both if you can
florence is like the city part of it and tuscany is the suburbs
like nyc and long island (kinda)
florence is beautiful but so is tuscany so super hard to choose

I liked tuscany the best. More to see and less crap to deal with. Florence was a bit too fast paced and hectic for me.
