Which is better...London or Rome? |
I went to Rome last year and I am obsessed with going back but I am going to London this year. I am afraid that I am not going to like it as much because Rome is so wonderful. Am I wrong? |

Well, I enjoy the Brits. They're usually drunk and have sharp tongues. An interesting combination. In between it's old royal structures, London itself can be a bit grey visually at times. And it's not simply because of the cool weather. Although the miles of Maggie inspired drab apartment blocks are quickly being bulldozed for more colorful fare too, more important is what's going on inside the buildings... London is undergoing a cultural renaissance in cuisine, art, and partying.
Rome, on the other hand, is more old-fashioned and ancient than ever. Which can be both positive and negative. Mayor Walter Veltroni has been trying to drag Romans into theatres, gyms, office buildings, and danceclubs, in a futile attempt to make Rome more modern. Nothing doing... Italians are still a senditary bunch who prefer lounging on squares and taking 4 hour lunches on sunny afternoons, rather than build the "new economy" or become the next hipster zone.
While this tends to make tourists fall in love with anarchronistic beauty and pace of "old Europe"... it also means Italy has the most ineffective police force in Western Europe, the slowest service workers, and the lowest cleanliness standards. This makes travelling in Rome annoying sometimes (especially after you get mugged, and the only cop in sight couldn't be bothered because he's on a gelato break). And forget about pointing the finger of regression at Spain, Madrid has moved light-years ahead of Rome in this regard! |

No not at all, thou Ive never been to both places...but,
Confucius says; “You can learn about something by studying, but you can be wiser by experiencing”
You learned that when you go to Rome, you’d enjoy cuz you experienced it.
Also, you seen, studied and learn what you will expect in London and doesn’t like it.
But you’d be wiser if you experience it. |

I lived in Europe most of my life. England for eight years. London is neat and all, and a good history lesson. But as far as beauty, art, history Rome is def. better. |

I have been in both of the towns and I can assure that there is no place like Rome... it's absolutely wonderful.
London is cool, but you won't have the same feeling after having been in Rome. |

I've been to both and I prefer Rome. However you need to visit both cities to be able to make that judgement for yourself. Go to London. You'll have a great time and Rome will be waiting for you when you ready to visit again. You booked the trip to London because you must have in interest in visiting the city. Who knows, you may actually prefer London! |
