Which place is better for shopping? Milan or Rome?

Milan for high fashion designer brands.
Rome is also good for such brands, but will also have more mainstream stores.

both of them are pretty good... but I'd say.. Rome ...'cos you can find cheaper shops than in Milan ...

Milan for store shopping. Outside markets are cheaper and they have nice ones in Florence, Rome, Lucca, Pisa, and Genoa. Everything is expensive from May through September.

milan is better than rome for the shops, but is is more beautiful than milan...if you want to do only shopping, milan is the best!!

Definitely Milan. Via Montenapoleone is where the most upscale stores are located ( here's a list of all the retail stores: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Via_Montenapoleone ), but you can find cool shops throughout the whole city.
After all, Milan is, along with Paris, one of the world's fashion capitals :)

Regarding Rome, Via Condotti and Via del Corso are among the best streets for shopping.
