It’s one of the most beautiful and untouched regions of Italy and, living near Rome, I go there often. The first time I took my Austrian father in law, he thought he was back in Austria, then I took some US friends and they thought they were in the Rockies. We had a lovely time. It’s a mixture of wild nature, with mountain peaks and a major Nature reserve, forests and plains, a lovely stretch of the Adriatic coast and lots and lots of interesting towns, starting from the capital l’Aquila, and small mountain villages. Well worth visiting, rich in culture and a hearty cuisine. Were you fishing for compliments, as a native (abruzzese), or do you want to visit it from abroad (oriundo)? Qualify your question and I’ll give you a more detailed input.
Whatever, it's an interesting place with nice people and I am not abruzzese.
