People go to holiday to Italy for many reasons. Maybe they've studied history and find that Italy has the best of Mediterranean history. Maybe it's because they've grown up Italian or have lived next to or have known some Italians and are interested in what the country is all about. Maybe they have seen too many movies (comedy, way and or romantic flicks) .
The best attractions aren't always the most famous... The "best" I suppose are:
Rome and its Colosseum
Pisa and the leaning tower
Milan - the Duomo (cathedral) and the Last Supper
Turin and the car, Egyptology and GAM museums & the shroud
Naples for its pizza and coast line.
Sicily for sun and fun and a coating of history
Pantelleria for the sea and capers
Venice - for the most interesting (and expensive) city in the world.
Montepulciano for the red wines.
Alba for the mushrroms
All of Tuscany for the food, wine and beautiful country side.

Because everything is beautiful in Italy. The architecture is gorgeous, the people are gorgeous, the language is gorgeous, the food is gorgeous, the fashions are gorgeous, the cars are gorgeous.... I can go on and on.
See the Amalphi Coast, Portofino... all of it. Rome is filled with culture and sites to see. Eat until you bust out of your pants and see as much as you can. I LOVE Italy. |

Rome and Venice - the best cultural placs to visit.
if you go there in the summer and you want to see great ladnscapes and go to the beach, you should go either to Riviera Amalfitana , Capri, Ischia, or Sicily, Taormina and Giardini di Naxos, or Sardinia, on the Costa Smeralda - extremely beautiful, awesome!
If you're staying in Rome and you want to take a one day trip to the beach, go to Sabaudia or S.Felice Circeo.
If you go in the winter you can go skiing in the Alps: Trentino Alto-Adige, Veneto, Valle D'Aosta...
