Will American plugs work in Italian outlets?

Getting ready for a trip to Rome, will my electronic devices be able to plug into Italian outlets? If not, what kind of converter do I need to buy? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No they won't and in any case the electrical current in Italy is 220.
1. Make sure your devices can auto-convert their voltage. You may have to simply remember to flip a switch.
2. If they convert then you'll need to purchase a converter. Do that before you leave. It'll be cheaper to buy it at home.
3. Remember that many hotels have hair driers and that in any case you will be able to find inexpensive small appliances in any supermarket or light bulb shop in Rome.
4. Ah, if you do bring your own stuff then you'll need an adapter for the plug because outlets are different.

No, the plugs are different. You can get plug adaptors for Europe at places like Radio Shack, Brookstones, Target, many luggage store, the airport... The ones used here in Italy are common to most of Europe. Amazon even carries them. You need the one at the top of the page here: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=europe+adaptor&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=1146676241&ref=pd_sl_9l5ex6ggin_b

For something like a laptop that comes with a power supply that uses both US & European voltages, that's all you need. For things that only work on 110 power, you'll also need a voltage adaptor.

absolutely not

look on the internet for a converter

make sure it holds enough power (i dont know the term for that) for something like a laptop or hairdryer

often they will not work with things thar have the converter box thigs

look at your adapter...if it says that it uses DC,,then it already has a converter built in....you'll still have to get a 220V interface...its just a peice of plastic with two metel prongs...less than 50 cents....

otherwise you'll need a transformer....
