4 days in Bogota...be my guide and tell me ...where to go?

I am planning to go to Bogota in Christmas just for 4 days. I will stay at the Dann Norte Hotel in zona rosa. Tell me which interesting sites are near it, restaurant, plazas, museums, parks, good deals shopping centers and also the weather at december. If there is any interesting place a few minutes from Bogota tell me which is the best... How should I be dressed to be touristing there?
Thanks.

Good choice. You'll be in the middle of everything. Lots of good restaurants, bars, shopping centers.

I'm sure you'll find plenty of information at the hotel.

You don't want to miss the Gold Museum (downtown Bogota), Monserrate (the mountain with a beautiful view of the city) and if you have time, go to the Salt Cathedral (Catedral de Sal) in Zipaquirá. It's just amazing.

You can wear whatever you want. Not shorts, the weather in Bogota is usually cool. Jeans and a jacket or a sweater will be perfect.

Have a nice time, enjoy yourself and be careful as you should be in any big city.

Well, you can find...
- SHOPPING CENTERS like: Atlantis, Andino, Unicentro, Salitre Plaza, Gran Estación, Santafé (there are most but these are the best for me).
- PLAZAS like: Bolívar's Plaza (Plaza de Bolívar)
- MUSEUMS like: Gold's Museum (Museo del Oro), Emerald's Museum (Museo de las Esmeraldas), Maloka, Distrital Planetary.
- PARKS like: Simon Bolívar Park (the most big in Latinamerica), Renaissance Park (Parque del Renacimiento), Central Bavaria Park (Parque Central Bavaria), Salitre Mágico and Mundo Aventura for fun.
- RESTAURANTS: the best are in the G Zone. A good option is Andrés Carne de Res in Chía (a few minutes of Bogotá).

- INTERESTING PLACES A FEW MINUTES FROM BOGOTà like: La Calera (that offer espectacular views of the city and have some of the best sites for eat or enjoy), Chía and Monserrate.

The weather is Bogotá is warm but in December is more cold that hot... use appropriate clothe.
In the Sun's street (Calle del Sol) are the best stores of the best fashion designers of Colombia.

You can find more information in this page: http://english.bogotaturismo.gov.co/

¡Good travel!

The gold museum is very intersting and you can get a translator talker (like a lagre cell phone) to help you understand. North of the city is the Catedral del Sal (check my spelling) an underground salt mine that was made into a cathedral - cool. Nightlife is what you would expect in a large city, but have you hotel arrange for taxis. In fact, rely on the hotel for advise a great deal. They will know what's going on while you are there and can help out. There is an old church (maybe a monastery) above town on a prominent ridge. Tours provide intersting history and a great view of Bogota below.

The weather can change quickly. Like most mountain environments rain comes in and out on short notice. But the temperatures are moderate with a chill late at night. So a rain jacket and sweater are common there. Most Colombians I know (I'm married to one) like to get pretty dressed up for an evening on the town (which starts later than in the USA). Avoid conspicous displays of wealth 'cause street crime is like most big cities and carry a throw away wallet (expired credit cards, a few thousand pesos etc.). Keep your passport secure at the hotel and carry a paper copy or two on you.

Traffic is crazy there so don't drive much - use taxis (again ask the hotel to set you up as much as possible). They charge a fixed rate zone to zone.

Try using Spanish as much as posible, even if you make a fool of yourself. They will appreciate the effort.
