If your luggage is already checked in and you have 6 and a half hours, take a tour to Downtown Lima. The tour companies are right after you leave immigration, before leaving the airport. Dont take a taxi in the street, take one inside the airport. You can visit the Main square, the Cathedral, the Government Palace and just take a glimpse of Lima. Downtown is not that far away from the airport.

No, its not enough time. This is because you must consider how long it takes to go through immigration, and then scheck back in once again. You will most likely miss your flight if you are to do this. So, sorry, no, its not enough time. Keep in mind, if you do choose to enter Peru, make sure have legal right.

I'd say just to stay at the airport. You don't want to risk having to be late for your next flight. Besides, with immigration and security and whatever else, you'd probably only have an hour, maybe two, which really isn't enough to do anything. They've got a lounge at the airport though, so you could probably just hang out there for a while. It's actually pretty cool, last time I checked they had tv's, computers with internet access, comfy seats, free food, etc.

Here's the thing, right now we have a gorgeous weather in Lima so once you checked your next flight head for a cab but don't go to downtown Lima, instead head to the Miraflores district. It would be easier to avoid traffic by heading straight to the Oceanside expressway, if it's an internal flight you have to catch you'll have to be back at the most one hour early. You can hire the Taxi for 4 1/2 hours and you'll invest 1 hour 10 minutes going forth & back.

You could stop at Makaha Beach. It's a Pier with a restaurant over the sea (The Rosa Nautica) and 2 Beach Clubs on the frontside (Terrazas & Waikiki). The clubs are for members only but you can ask the door man of Terrazas to let you go to KAPLINA (it's a seafood restaurant)and delight yourself with a Founder Ceviche (Ceviche de Lenguado) and beer (Pilsen), also take a tour inside the Rosa Nautica.

Then go up the street to Miraflores (on the taxi) and let him tour you around Miraflores, to the Mayor's House, Kennedy Park, The Light House, the Kiss Park.
