Advice on getting from Lima (Peru) airport to hotel in Miraflores. Are taxis safe?

i never really trust taxis i think if you are getting one get a regestered plated taxi and always ensure you are with somebody

Have your hotel or your tour agency transfer you from the airport. During the day it is safe to ride taxis. All taxis at the airport exit are legit as they have to show paperwork to even enter the airport. I wouldn't suggest leaving the airport terminal at night and waving a taxi down on the street. Transfer services from your hotel are the best way to go, expensive taxi companies and taxis that can overcharge you are no good, you can usually get a transfer from your hotel for $5. I know I own a travel agency in Peru (see below)

I went to Lima last year and met with friends coming in different flights & times so I got different perspectives.

When I arrived I found myself to struggle to get out surrounded by taxi drivers, you have to watch out for your small luggage.

I would suggest to plan ahead and book your pick up, you could ask the hotel to book transportation for you but they get a commission out of it and this doesnâ€™t always ensure that it will be ok, most taxis in lima are second hand from Japan and for what I see most of them look pretty old and dirty, we took a ride once in downtown and it really smelled, same as the driver.

3 friends got lucky from the beginning and came across --- AKATORI.COM --- we all used it on our way back, Very polite English speaking drives, new vehicles Air-conditioned, good rate, we even got a discount on booking multiple transfers.

I would say --- AKATORI.COM --- is the best way to go.

Take a taxi, don't be scared! You put the address of the hotel in a paper you give it to the taxi driver and that's all, no one is going to kill you!

Super easy and safe. Right after you get out of the security zone. after your bags are checked, you are going to see different counters of different companies. They all give taxi services and they are INSIDE the airport. Since it is your first experience in Lima, I would suggest you take one of those. Change some money in the airpot zone, the rate is a bit higher so I would suggest to change 30 bucks. Your taxi should be between 15 and 30 bucks. For ths distance, that price is worth it.
